How often do I need to replace the filters in my reusable respirator?

For gas/vapour filter cartridges, these should be replaced as soon as you detect any smell, taste or other irritant from the airborne hazards you are protecting against.

Regardless of the filter type, on heavily contaminated worksites it is typically a requirement to replace filters based on a set cycle, for example after every 40 hours or 30 days of use, whichever comes first.
