Spill Kits

A spill kit provides essential emergency safety and protection for worksites that handle dangerous goods, particularly hazardous liquids (oils, fuels and chemicals) and biohazards (cytotoxic chemicals and bodily fluids).  Dangerous spills need to be quickly and effectively contained & cleaned up to protect workers, sites, and the environment.

Spills must be controlled using the correct hazard control equipment for each spill type.  URSafeRite’s range includes oil spill kits, fuel spill kits, chemical spill kits, biohazard spill kits, emergency spill kits, and general purpose spill kits.

Choose the Right Spill Kit for Your Needs

Effective spill control requires the correct type of spill kit for the particular environmental hazards present at worksites.  Fast deployment of the right spill kit for each situation ensures compliance and containment of hazards to protect workers, sites, and the environment.

Spills must be controlled using the correct hazard control equipment for each spill type. Each type of hazard has characteristics and properties that react differently and must be handled with containment and cleanup materials suitable for the spill type.  Our range includes ready to go kits for all common spill types including oil spill kits, fuel spill kits, chemical spill kits, Hazchem spill kits, and biohazard spill kits.

Oil, Fuel & Diesel Spill Kits

Oil spill kits, fuel spill kits & diesel spill kits are required to control and clean up spills from oils & fuels in workplaces such as workshops, vehicle refuelling facilities, warehouses and transport depots.  These specialist kits are designed to absorb hydrocarbons and repel water.  The materials in these kits separate oil from water and help to prevent contamination of the surrounding environment.

Chemical & Hazchem Spill Kits

Chemical spill kits and Hazchem spill kits are used to effectively deal with spills of most hazardous liquids including acids, bases & alkalis, paints, solvents and pesticides on sites such as factories, industrial facilities, workshops and mines. These kits contain inert polypropylene absorbents for highly effective containment of spills.  The absorbents do not degrade or chemically react with the absorbed hazards and are ideal for use to contain and cleanup a wide range of hazardous chemicals.

Biohazard & Laboratory Spill Kits

Biohazard spill kits and laboratory spill kits provide effective control and cleanup of spills from infectious materials in workplaces such as healthcare and laboratories where hazardous biological materials are handled.  These kits include multi-purpose absorbents to contain fluids, PPE, disinfectant and biohazard waste bags.

An oil spill kit uses water-repelling materials to absorb hydrocarbons (e.g. oil, fuel & diesel) and thus separate oil and water to help prevent contamination of the surrounding environment.  A chemical spill kit uses inert polypropylene absorbents that do not degrade or chemically react with the absorbed hazards and are ideal for use to contain and cleanup a wide range of hazardous chemicals.

An emergency spill kit should contain a range of absorbent materials (such as pads, socks or booms) specific for each type of hazard, plus suitable PPE for the user, and disposal bags for containment of materials after spill cleanup.  The kit should be housed in a suitable container such as a spill kit bin, and clearly labelled for each type of spill kit.

Spill kits are designed for use in a variety of worksite environments including outdoor use and vehicles.  Kits can be moved to sites and locations as required to deal with emergency spills.  Outdoor spill kits are used for sites such as fuel pumping, liquid storage and construction activities.  Portable vehicle spill kits can be carried to manage spills while travelling and at remote sites.

URSafeRite’s spill kits are available in a range of sizes to suit every need.  Worksite kits should be sized to handle the maximum potential spill volume, based on a site risk assessment for the hazards present.  Small spill kits (up to 50L) are great for small spills and vehicles; Medium spill kits (100L – 150L) may be suitable for workshops and manufacturing sites; and Large spill kits (200L – 300L+) should be used for large storage sites and industrial operations.

Yes, specialist kits are available for these environments.  Biohazard spill kits and laboratory spill kits provide effective control and cleanup of spills from infectious materials in workplaces such as healthcare and laboratories where hazardous biological materials are handled.
