Shop Electrical Gloves

Working with electricity presents serious risks to personal safety that must be properly managed with specialised PPE gear.  Electric shock and arc hazards can cause serious injury and are potentially life threatening in high-voltage working environments.

Insulated safety gloves, often referred to as electrical gloves or electrical insulated gloves, are designed to provide a barrier against electric current and provide essential protection from electric shocks and arc hazards. These specialised gloves use insulating materials to protect workers from direct contact with live electricity.

For workers in electrical installation, industrial maintenance, and high-voltage utilities projects, demand the best personal protection and be sure to browse URSafeRite’s collections for our certified hand protection including PVC & rubber gloves and welding & heat gloves

Advantages of Electrical Gloves Over Standard Work Gloves

Electrical gloves are designed to protect workers from injuries caused by electric shocks and arc hazards due to their specialised insulating properties.  These gloves are engineered and certified with specific ratings to provide a critical barrier of insulation between a workers’ hands and live currents when undertaking electrical work.

By comparison, standard work gloves are not engineered to provide effective protection against electrical shock and arc hazards.  Standard work gloves are designed primarily to protect against mechanical risks or chemical hazards, and do not contain the specialised insulating materials required for proper protection when working with live electrical voltages.

Frequently Asked Questions

Electrical gloves must be tested prior to initial use and then scheduled for re-testing at least every 6 months to ensure effective protection is maintained and to achieve compliance with Australian standards and work health & safety regulations. Re-testing should be maintained even when the gloves may not have been used for work during the period since the last testing was done.  Ongoing testing for electrical safety gloves is important to detect issues such as damage, wear, perforation or other deterioration.  Visual inspection alone is not sufficient given the critical protection that electrical insulated gloves must provide.

It is recommended to wear leather protective gloves over insulating electrical gloves, as they protect the electrical gloves from mechanical damage (wear, abrasion, puncture).  Used together in this way, leather protective gloves worn over electrical gloves will extend the usable working life of electrical safety gloves and protect your valuable PPE.

Electrical gloves may have an expiration date.  Manufacturers may recommend replacing electrical safety gloves after a particular time has elapsed since their production date (as marked on the product), for example every 2 years.  This recommendation for replacement is due to the likelihood of deterioration over time, for example as a result of UV light exposure or ozone.  Recommendation for replacement depends on factors such as usage frequency and if protective leather outer gloves are used. Regardless of glove age, they must be replaced if they fail in testing.

URSafeRite can supply electrical gloves in bulk configurations including carton lots depending on your requirements. Simply contact us for more details.
